Kick-Starting Strategy Work with Foresight Workshop

Helsingin Rock and Roll Oy is best known for Legendary Tavastia Club, Semifinal Club, and the Ilves Restaurant located in the heart of Helsinki. The company also manages restaurant and catering services at events and festivals  like Provinssirock and Rusrock. In the fall 2024, Framtid conducted a foresight workshop for the leadership team of Helsingin Rock and Roll Oy to kick-start their strategy days.


Connecting future, past and present

The goal of foresight workshop was to guide the strategy work from present to the future, ensuring that this legendary company, which has been leading Helsinki’s event scene for over 50 years, remains competitive and forward-thinking also for the next 50 years.

Framtid’s foresight workshop consisted of two parts: a trend review focusing on the external impacts on Helsingin Rock and Roll’s business, and the Futures Triangle exercise, developed by futurist Sohail Inayatullah, through which we examined future visions analysing the forces driving the present and the burdens of the past

The workshop successfully directed attention toward the future. Trend review provided insights into current phenomena and, more importantly, their future developments and impacts.

Based on these findings, Helsingin Rock and Roll’s management team sketched out a vision for company’s future 10 years ahead and used the Futures Triangle to consider what current and past internal and external factors influence the realization of this vision. Given the legendary venue spaces such and Tavastia where generations meet, it was also crucial to examine also the flow of the past into the present. Finding answers to question: What elements of the history do we want to bring to today and and update those to meet the needs o future generations?

This forward-looking but practical foresight workshop set the stage for the company’s strategic work and directed the legendary event and restaurant company’s focus strongly toward the future.
